About Unqork

As the design services lead for all internal design systems and services, I was responsible for managing a team of 3 direct reports and working closely with the UX Engineering Lead and Product Lead on feature roadmap and backlog prioritization. In this role, I was responsible for driving the overall design vision and strategy for the company's internal design systems and processes. I also led the design team in the development and implementation of new design systems, as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing systems. In addition, I worked with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements and feedback, and to ensure that the designs met the needs of both users and the business.

Project Process

Implementing an Internal Design System

To ensure that our figma design system was aligned with the platform's capabilities, I focused on improving the design process, documentation, and features. I created a design system in figma that was user-friendly and easy to understand. I also made sure that our documentation was comprehensive and up-to-date. This helped to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our design team. Overall, we were able to improve the quality of our designs and make them more user-friendly by focusing on alignment with platform abilities, design process improvement, documentation, and feature improvements.

Training & Development

In addition to leading the design services team at Unqork, I was also responsible for training others on how to lead UX sessions effectively. This involved developing and delivering a curriculum that covered the basics of UX design, as well as how to conduct effective UX sessions. Design thinking is a methodology that encourages designers to be creative and innovative in their approach to problem solving. It involves a human-centered approach that focuses on understanding the needs of users and stakeholders in order to create solutions that are both effective and user-friendly.

Final Result

While leading the design services team at Unqork, I was responsible for all internal design systems and services. With a focus on aligning our design with the platform's capabilities, we improved the systemic tools, design process, documentation, and features. Our efforts helped in the company achieving double unicorn status (a $2 billion valuation) and a growth rate of over 250%.
